DPRK Embassy Holds Commemoration of Kim Jong Il's Birth in a Simple But Full of Meaning
The commemoration of the birthday of one of the important figures of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Il, was held in a simple but meaningful way at the DPRK Embassy in Jakarta, Thursday evening (16/2).
In addition to the chairman of the Indonesian-Korean Friendship Association Teguh Santosa, the birthday commemoration of the son of DPRK founder Kim Il Sung was also attended by the chairman of the Gerindra Party's foreign affairs division, Irawan Ronodipuro, who was present representing the chairman of the Gerindra party, Prabowo Subianto.
Kim Jong Il was born in the midst of Japanese anti-colonial fighters led by his father, Kim Il Sung, at the Secret Camp on Mount Paektu on February 16, 1942. He led the DPRK in 1994 replacing his father who died in July of that year. Kim Jong Il, who introduced the Songgun policy, died on December 17, 2011 in Pyongyang.
The procession commemorating Kim Jong Il's birthday began with the laying of flower by Teguh Santosa and Irawan Ronodipuro in the courtyard of honor at the DPRK Embassy.
Afterwards, DPRK Ambassador An Kwang Il invited Teguh and Irawan to watch footage of the military parade being held to celebrate 75 years of the Korean People's Army at Kim Il Sung Square.
In the military parade that was held at night on 8 February 2023, the latest weapons developed by the DPRK were shown. Among them are 11 Hwasong-17 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) and new tube ICBMs that use transport erector launchers (TELs) technology.
Before the military parade begins, various attractions are displayed which show the greatness of the DPRK military personnel, including the parachuting attraction at night where all parachutists can land perfectly in the middle of Kim Il Sung Square.
DPRK supreme leader Kim Jong Un attended the military parade with wife Ri Sol Ju and their daughter, Kim Ju Ae. The three of them wore black suits. There was a contrast between the military officials who wore full military uniforms. Kim Jong Un never stopped showing pride in the DPRK's military performance on display.
In general, the military parade clearly demonstrated the DPRK's military achievements needed in dealing with various threats from parties that continue to be hostile to them.
On the sidelines of watching footage of the military parade, Ambassador An Kwang Il served Naengmyeon or cold noodles which is a typical Korean food.
At the end of the activity, Teguh Santosa handed over a book entitled "Bad Peace, Good War" to Ambassadors An Kwang Il and Irawan Ronodipuro. The book is a collection of interviews by Teguh Santosa with a number of foreign ambassadors in Jakarta. The first two interviews in the book are Teguh Santosa's interview with Ambassador An Kwang Il.
