72 Years Since the Korean War Broken Out

72 years have passed since the Korean War was broken out in June 25, 1950.

The imperialist aggressors led by the US provoked an aggressive war to stifle the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the cradle (only two years after its foundation) and burnt up the whole country by mobilizing enormous military forces and equipment. During the war, they committed extra-large scale anti-human crimes without hesitation that had never been seen before.

However, they could not depress the spirit of the Korean people who had turned out to defend their country.

During the three-year hard-fought war, Korean people defeated the aggressors with the indomitable spirit of defending the country to honorably safeguard the freedom and the independence of the country, and demonstrated the prestige and the spirit of the Republic.

Thus, the allied imperialist forces had no other choice but to prostrate before the Korean people and to sign the armistice agreement, which was as same as the surrender document.

After the conclusion of the armistice agreement, DPRK has constantly proposed to replace the armistice agreement by a peace treaty but the out forces, who are displeased with it, have persistently ignored our proposal.

The US is still making desperate attempts to turn the way of the DPRK into theirs and to make favorable conditions for their ambitions of disarming and overthrowing DPRK by all means.

All the facts clearly show that, as long as the US insists their hostile policy towards the DPRK, true peace and stability cannot be settled down on the Korean peninsula.

In the historic conclusion of the 5th plenary meeting of 8th central committee of the Worker’s Party of Korea held from June 8 to 10, Kim Jong Un, president of the state affairs of the DPRK, mentioned that the current security environment of the country is very serious and the surrounding situation carries a danger of being further aggravated and this urgently calls upon the DPRK to attain the goal of bolstering the national defence capability as soon as possible.

He said that the right to self-defence is an issue of defending sovereignty and reaffirmed the Party’s invariable fighting principle of power for power and head-on contest.

In the present world, where force clashes with another fiercely, dignity of the state, sovereign right and credible genuine peace can only be guaranteed by a powerful self-defense capability that can defeat any enemy.

We believe that you, who love justice and peace, will support the Korean people in their just struggle to safeguard the sovereign right of the country with a clear recognition of the current situation on the Korean peninsula.
